Memorial Day

I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day. We had a good, fun day out at the farm with Jeff, Missy, Dad and Jay. It was so nice to have Jay come home this weekend. I hope he will make another trip up here soon. For the most part we just hung out and Jeff helped the kids find some snakes. Not something that I particularly enjoyed, but the boys sure liked it. Jordan is not even the least bit afraid to pick them up and carry them around. He even got bit by one but he said it didn't hurt. Sometimes on a holiday it is just nice to hang out and not go anywhere and spent good, quality time with family.

Batta Family Weekend

It was a weekend for all the Batta kids to come home to Lanesboro. Todd was home from DC with his girlfriend, Adri, Brenda and Amy were home from SD with their kids and Brenda's husband, Paul, and of course we didn't have to go to far to get to Lanesboro from Rockwell City. Grandma Schroeder, Aunt Bev and Aunt Joyce also joined in on the fun on Sunday. We all had a really good time and spent most of our time outside playing games and going on the nature trail by Lanesboro. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend. The kids were great and they loved the campfires at night for roasting marshmellows and having smores. I think the adults liked that as well. Curt can cook a mean marshmellow to goeyness perfection. Hopefully it won't be too much longer for all of us to get together again. It is just too bad the time seems to go by so quickly.

Planting Flowers

This last Sunday was a fun day for the kids and I, we were able to plant our flowers I got. It was a lot of fun and the end result looked pretty good. I let the kids do most of the work, I mostly got the pots ready with soil and helped them know where to put the flowers. This was the first time for Riley to help me, so she had a blast and mostly played in the dirt (she loves to get dirty). Gavin didn't get to do anything, but he was content on playing with his mower, that is usually all he does outside anyway is tote that toy around.

All in all, it was a lot of fun and I was happy Curt got pictures of our day so I could share them with you.

Track and Field Day

Zach at the long jump
Jordan on the obstacle course
Zach in the potato sack race
Jordan in the three legged race
What a fun day today for the kids. They had their annual track and field day at school. Jeff and I were their to route them on (Curt couldn't get off work) and Dad was great to watch the little ones for me. It was a big help because there would have been a lot of running from one event to the other. So thank you Dad for babysitting.

The boys started with individual running events and I think Jordan got 3rd for the 75 yd. dash and Zach got 2nd for the 50 yd. dash. Great job guys. Then there was a relay event that they were in with their class and then we moved on to the field events. This is where it was a lot of fun to watch. Both Jordan and Zach got to do the softball throw, long jump, potato sack race, three legged race and then an obstacle course. There were no winners or losers at these events, just a lot of fun for the kids. The three legged race was the best to watch. Zach and Tyler couldn't stay up and Jordan a Lucas eventually just hopped on their free legs to get to the end.

It is hard to believe this is Jordan's last year for the elementary track and field. We move on to jr. high here in 5th grade. He will have a track and field day at the jr high, but it is still a milestone for us. I just never want my kids to grow up as fast as they are.

All in all it was a great day and I am very proud of both Zach and Jordan, they did their best and tried their hardest and most of all had fun!!!

First Haircut

One week ago today Gavin got his first haircut. I was brave enough to do it myself without even having Curt help me. I kept debating on whether to cut his hair or not, and then finally got the urge to do it. I didn't want to wait for Curt to get home, so I just started snipping away on my own. It turned out pretty good, and towards the end, Gavin didn't want to sit still anymore so I had to be done, even if I liked it or not. Luckily, I liked it. I just had to share this first time experience with you and to show off my handsome little dude.

Time Flying By

Wow! It is hard to believe that the kids only have two more soccer games and that school is done at the end of this month. Where did all the time go. I feel like I am missing out on something with everything zooming by me. I guess that is why they say to enjoy your kids' childhood because it is gone before you know it.

It looks like the summer won't let up as well in terms of being busy. The boys are not only going out for baseball, but they decided this year to try swim team. They seem pretty excited about it. It is not only a trial year for them, but for me as well. I need to see if this is something I can keep up with because they have practice four days a week and meets every Wednesday and three of them are and hour or more away. Curt won't be able to make those meets because they are anticipating a busy summer for Pella Windows. So, if it is something that will be hard to keep up with, we may have to forgo swim team next year. Here's hoping it all works out and that it is a fun summer for them.

As you can see in the pictures, the littlest two are growing up fast. They love this warm weather we have been having and love to be outside. Gavin will cry sometimes to go outside. It is a good thing though that they want to be outside so much because it keeps them going and then they are really tuckered for bedtime.

I hope to write more soon! Until then, take care and have a great day!!
