Conference Swim Meet

What a long but exciting day for Curt, myself and the boys. The conference swim meet was held today in Humbolt to find out who is the best. There were nine towns competing and overall we placed third in the conference and then they divide it down into boys and girls and our boys held the top spot. A very good day for all. Jordan and Zach both started out the day with a medley relay and Jordan's group got 1st and Zach's group got 4th. (Not bad for Zach's group who was bumped to to the 9 and 10 year olds since they lost a kid to a broken arm in the 8 and under group.) The next event was the backstroke for Zach and he placed 5th. The butterfly was next and Jordan got 2nd in his age group and Zach got 3rd in his age group. They were both incredible in that event. Next was the 25 m free and Zach got 4th and Jordan got 3rd for their age groups and then there was the 100 m free for Jordan and he got 2nd in that. That was only the second time he swam that event this year, not bad. Then they both ended with the 100m free relay and Jordan's group got 1st and Zach's got 5th. Except for the relays, there was at least 20-30 kids swimming in each event so they can be very proud of themselves and what they accomplished today. Great job boys!!!
Now the boys are off to Kansas City to go to Ocean's of Fun with friends of ours and Curt and I and the little ones are going to meet them down there on Tuesday to go to World's of Fun. I'm sure I will have plenty of pictures to post once I get back.

Our Trip to the Zoo

What a fun but tiring weekend. We went as a family to the Henry Doorly Zoo this weekend courtesy of Pella. They provided all of us the tickets to get in free, part of the Pella perks. They do stuff like this for their employees, last year we got free tickets to Adventureland. Since Curt had overtime on Saturday, we spent the night in Omaha yesterday and went to the zoo today. It was kind of nice that way because the kids got to enjoy the hotel pool more and we had time Saturday night to go down to the Missouri River. We also got a little shopping in there as well at the Crossroads Mall, lucky for me we were in Omaha too early to check in at our hotel. The boys weren't thinking it was so lucky, they had to try on some school clothes. I thought girls were picky with clothes, you haven't met my two oldest boys yet. Needless to say, we only left the mall with one shirt each and Riley got two full outfits and some shoes, that's my girl. Overall the weekend was a lot of fun but extremely hot today at the zoo. I'm just glad we got to get away for a while as a family and really enjoy ourselves.
Also, enjoy the posts below of some more family pictures.

Hotel in Omaha

My favorite picture of the whole weekend.
Zach trying to look fast.
Took her a while to test the slide out, but ended up being her favorite thing.
Jordan's favorite thing the play on.
Even Gavin ended up liking the slide.

4th of July

I know, I know, the fourth has already come and gone, but I still have some pictures for all of you to see of the kids. On the fourth, we went up to Twin Lakes to watch the fireworks that evening and it seemed to be a lot of fun for the kids. Surprisingly though Gavin could have cared less to watch them. I kind of thought he would be amazed at all the colors in the sky. The other two boys enjoyed them the most and Riley seemed to have lost interest after about 10 minutes. She would rather have been playing in the lake than watching the fireworks.

Fun in the Sun

When it gets warm out it is time to head to the pool. So we all took a family outing to the pool and I got to capture some pictures of the kids. Lately the pool has been our weekend hangout.

Besides swimming, not much is going on for us now. The boys still have swim team until the last weekend in July and they are still doing great. Jordan brought home firsts and seconds at the last meet and Zach brought home first, some seconds, and a third. I just hope their enthusiasm keeps up for swim team because it lasts so long and takes up most of their summer.

We are hopefully going to start painting our house this summer. It is just such a chore that you don't ever want to get started. The scraping part is the worst, but I am hoping to sweet talk Curt into doing most of that. Anyone that wants to come over for a painting party, this is your open invitation.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday week.
