Update on Gavin's Hearing

A week ago today Gavin went back to have his hearing tested again since his right ear failed previously and unfortunately their has been no change in his right ear. It is still flatlined when they test his eardrum, meaning there is no response to sound in that ear. They still see a lot of fluid build up and so the steroids didn't work to help shrink whatever was holding the fluid in his ear. So, last Thursday I had to take him back to the doctor again and he said it is now time to put a tube in his ear. So Slattery referred me to the Carroll ENT (Wellendorf) and we have an appointment there on March 10 for an initial consult and then we will make an appointment to do his tube. We just hope and pray all goes well and that this will put him on the path to hearing better and speaking better. So, thanks for all of your thoughts and concerns about Gavin.

Bird in Da House

These are pictures of our darling boys trying to catch a bird that got in our house. Curt told them that the bird was decent size (like a morning dove size) and so they thought they had to gear up in case it came after them. (By the way, fearless Gavin found out the hard way how scary it can be to be looking under the bed, like his daddy, to find the bird and it flies right out at him and thunks him in the head. You can just imagine the wail of a scream that came out of him.) Anyway, the boys thought they would be tough and try to get the bird, in armour no doubt, but little did they know that Curt already caught the bird and we just wanted to catch this moment on film of them being so cute and funny. They were a little peeved at us when we told them the bird already went outside. Curt and I had a good laugh though, I still chuckle about it when I think of their "protective" gear they put on.

Happy Love Day

We hope you all had a great valentines day. We celebrated it last night with the kids since Curt was going to be gone tonight taking tickets for basketball games. We didn't do a whole lot just spent time together as a family and each of the kids got a gift from Curt and I. Then Curt comes home today for a few minutes before he had to leave and comes in with this big adorable teddy bear with a bouquet of balloons attached to it for me. We weren't supposed to get each other anything but he was sneaky and said it was from the kids. It was so sweet of him. Hope you all had a great day!!

Sledding Layout

This is a layout I did from pictures that were taken last year when we got that big snow late in the winter season. The kids went to Hyde Park with Curt and Grandma and Grandpa Batta and had a blast. That was their first time sledding at Hyde Park and they sure loved the ride back up the hill.
This picture didn't turn out the best of my layout. From left to right, the first picture is of Jordan captured in midair, the next picture is of Zach manuvering his turns, next is Grandma and Riley, and then it is a picture of all of them going down, and the last one is of the ride back up the hill with Grandpa driving.

How I Love Your Little Hands Layout

Journaling reads: I love the way they hold my hand. I love the way they hold on tight around my neck. I love the way they wave bye-bye. I love they way they blow me love. I love your little hands and I love you!
For some reason I have always loved this picture so I had to make a layout of it.

Hoopin It Up

Zach may not have had a long season for basketball (only a month), but he enjoyed every minute of it. At this age they only go with the fundamentals and so for practices they practice on dribbling, passing, and shooting from about 5 feet out. There were so many kids out and that elementary gym isn't very big to practice in. That is the one good thing about Zach's class, everyone goes out for everything. They could have some pretty good athlete kids in the future if they keep that up. Next year Zach gets to look forward to actually playing basketball in a game setting, he will love that. And they will also split up the boys and girls and they will have their own teams to practice with.
